10×

viewer growth through mobile video product and monetisation work

Context

Apalya Technologies developed mobile TV and over-the-top video services. My work focused on bringing those services to Sri Lanka and connecting product choices, content, distribution and commercial performance.

My role

As a Business Strategy Consultant, I partnered with Apalya to develop and scale its Sri Lankan services. I worked on product positioning, content strategy, monetisation and execution, alongside relationships with telecom operators.

What I worked on

I built relationships with Dialog, Airtel, Mobitel and Etisalat to support mobile video launches and expansion. The work included mobile TV and video-on-demand services, aligning content offerings and distribution with market opportunities.

I led product strategy behind Dialog MyTV, supported a commercial turnaround and worked on monetisation improvements. Live-streaming capacity scaled to support more than 60,000 concurrent users.

Reported outcomes

The work helped capture more than 80% of Sri Lanka’s mobile TV market. Reported product results included 10× viewer growth, twice the average revenue per user and three times customer lifetime value.

These are historical results from the Apalya work. They describe the mobile TV segment and the services involved, rather than the overall Sri Lankan television market.

Let’s talk about what comes next.

A hotel revenue challenge, a product opportunity or a commercial partnership.
